Allium cepa var. aggregatu
This is an annual plant that belongs to the onion and garlic family. It grows like a scallion, from one bulb/seed it multiplies the leafs and the roots, so you harvest a bunch per plant. This shallot is a traditional Puertorrican heirloom from our "jibaro" ancestors It's easy to grow, it needs a very loose and well drained soil for a larger harvest. It produces well even in adverse tropical weather. It can be use as an onion in any dish, it was used in the traditional 'sofrito' recipe from the early ages.
